Ani joins Lenny Kravitz, Mos Def and more for “Gulf Aid” in New Orleans this Sunday A long list of incredible musicians, including Ani DiFranco, are donating their talents to "Gulf Aid" this Sunday, May 16 from 12noon to 10pm at Mardi Gras World River City in New Orleans. Ani joins Lenny Kravitz, Mos Def, Allen Toussaint, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and many more in a benefit concert organized by WWOZ’s David Freedman and pianist David Torkanowsky, raising money to help efforts to contain the BP oil spill, one of the largest oil spills in history. Tickets are $50, available here, and all proceeds go to Gulf Aid, a 501(c3) nonprofit corporation, who will distribute the funds to organizations to help protect the wetlands, as well as for fishermen and their families. For folks outside of the New Orleans area, WWOZ plans a live broadcast; details to be posted on their website here. Donations can be sent to: Gulf Relief Foundation, PO Box 6917, Metairie, LA 70009.

This past February Ani and her band took the stage in Charleston, WV in front of a live audience and recorded a performance for Mountain Stage Radio Show with Larry Groce. The show also featured sets by Erin McKeown, Chuck Prophet, Andy McKee, and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave. Now you can experience this incredible concert on NPR airing the week following April 30 (days and times vary, click here for stations and broadcast schedule in your area).
