Here’s an except from the article… With a population of roughly 20 million people, the island of Borneo is divided among three separate nations—Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. Home to the world’s oldest rainforest, it sits just south of the South China Sea. On its Malaysian-controlled north coast is the city of Miri, where Izyan Alirahman was born. Today she’s known as Zee Avi, and the singer/songwriter/guitarist/ukulele-player is headed back to Borneo—any minute. The adorable 25-year-old is strapped into a set of bulky headphones, sitting cross-legged on what must be a slightly uncomfortable airport chair, beaming back at me from her buggy webcam. Five minutes ago, after our interview was scheduled at the last minute, then delayed, then canceled, I noticed an unexpected e-mail from Avi, waiting at the airport: “Wanna Skype? ” Read more HERE!
