The official bootleg series delivers all the sonic joy of a live Ani show, and for the first time the new release
Chicago 9.22.07 features Todd Sickafoose on bass, Allison Miller on drums and Mike Dillon on vibes and percussion to give you that full band feeling. (There is also a special appearance by Melissa Ferrick on the two song encore!) But beyond the multitude of talented musicians, Ani also serves up some tracks new to the series including “Fire Door,” “Present/Infant” and “You Had Time”. All wrapped up in a seasonal red package (…or for the first time order the download) only at the
Righteous Babe Store! While you’re web surfing check out the new virtual catalog, including our annual “Hey Folks” letter
here.
We are proud to announce that the two-disc celebration of Bruce U. Utah Phillips,
Singing Through the Hard Times is nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album! The academy’s recognition of the incredible roster of folk musicians, who generously donated recordings of songs that Utah sang and loved, really warms our hearts! But we will have to wait until January to find out if it will take home that coveted gilded Gramophone (after all there is some stiff competition including Loudon Wainwright III and Maura O’Connell)…until then we raise a glass to Utah’s memory and thank all the fine folks who made this possible.
And the Woody Guthrie Award goes to...ANI! Tomorrow in NYC
Ani is being honored with the prestigious Woody Guthrie
Award for being a voice of positive social change, at the 13th Annual Guthrie Awards
Dinner on Thursday, October 8th at the Plaza in New York City. The
ceremonies start at 6:30p and include a silent auction, dinner and Award

Just before kicking off the Fall Tour (check out the
schedule here) Ani will take the main stage at moe.down solo on September 5. Not everybody can make the trip to upstate New York to enjoy so log on, tune in and enjoy!
iClips.net will be broadcasting live from moe.down all weekend, including Ani’s set scheduled for around 5:30p EST on Saturday…but festivals are subject to time changes so keep your eyes on
moedown.com and
iClips.net for schedule updates.
Spin.com caught up with Ani in her dressing room at the Mile High Music Festival recently, you can watch the conversation that ensued here. Get the scoop straight from the Little Folksinger’s mouth about touring with two-and-a-half-year-old Petah, the current state of New Orleans music, being one of the original indie artists and where she sees herself in the future.
If you missed it, Ani DiFranco and many others joined folk music legend Pete Seeger as he celebrated his 90th birthday this past May with an unforgettable night of music at New York’s Madison Square Garden in support of the environmental organization that he founded more than 40 years earlier: the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, created by Seeger to bring awareness to the importance of protecting the Hudson River and other natural resources.
More than 40 artists, including Ani, fellow RBR artist Toshi Reagon, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, and others performed songs inspired by Seeger’s music and activism.
Check out Pete Seeger’s 90th Birthday Celebration from Madison Square Garden, which premieres on PBS’s Great Performances (check pbs.org or your local listings for air times in your market). A preview and clips are available online here.
