Denver songwriter Matt Morris cut his first solo record the way any young artist might: He made an album with his friends.
Only his friends are people like Justin Timberlake.
Morris, like Timberlake a former Mouseketeer, recorded most of his new CD in Austin, Texas, with his new buddy, musician-producer Charlie Sexton. He wrote many of the lyrics with his partner, Sean, whom he married in California when same-sex marriage there was still legal. And he built an entire song around a track written by his friend and bandmate, Dave Preston… read more of the interview in The Boston Globe …

Day 2 in Washington went off without a hitch. Rolling with the Indigo Girls has been amazing. Great crew. Great energy. And, well, the girls are the sweetest. They sung Happy Birthday to me on stage last night! Maybe I’ll post a video of that… If you haven’t seen, I’ve been a little YouTube crazy lately. Last night I uploaded a video of me singing Chief, by Patty Griffin, in Edmonds. First song of the last set of my 20’s, it was.

Give the page a look if you haven’t already. Please rate and subscribe, and feel free to share with your friends. My love to you from Seattle, Matt http://www.YouTube.com/MattMorrisVideos

Tomorrow morning I’ll be performing with Joan Osborne on The CBS Early Show, singing a duet of her song, “Cathedrals”! I’m really excited! Being on the road with Joan was amazing, and having the opportunity to perform with her again is a true pleasure. If you’re an early riser, be sure to tune in, or if you’re like my mom or my grandma you can record it on your DVR! This is a pretty big deal for me, and I’d love for you to see it.
I’ll be heading back out on the road next week, making a few stops in California and then heading back east to Philadelphia and then to NYC. The final stop on this short November run (short compared to the 22 shows that Joan and I just finished!) will be in my hometown of Denver. I met so many wonderful people during the past month, and I hope that you’ll all be able to come out for my solo shows.

New acoustic recordings available today
“This is for all the folks who’ve supported me, showing up at performances in Tennessee, Texas, Colorado… I owe a lot to my fans, so here it is,” Matt says. “This is about as real as it gets.”
Backstage at Bonnaroo and other Acoustic Performances, featuring songs from an impromptu backstage performance recorded during the Bonnaroo Music festival last Spring, is now available! Look for it on iTunes, Amazon.com, and other online music stores.
Or, if you’re coming to one of Matt’s performances during his tour with Joan Osborne, pick one up at the concert!

Making music is, for me, a spiritual act; a clarion call to stir up the waters and raise Cain with an honest song. On September 23rd, I will proudly offer up my first Tennman Records release, “Backstage at Bonnaroo and other Acoustic Performances.” The support of my fans means the world to me, and I hope that this EP touches each of you in a significant way.
With love,
Matt
